I’m currently working on a new painting, and it’s the largest oil painting I’ve ever attempted. The painting is 36×36 inches, and I’m painting it in layers, starting with a gray tone background.
I’ve always been drawn to large paintings. They have a presence that smaller paintings just don’t have. They can fill a room and really make a statement. I also like the challenge of painting on a large scale. It forces me to be more precise and thoughtful with my brushstrokes.
I’m painting this painting in layers for a few reasons. First, it allows me to build up the colors slowly and gradually. This helps me to create more depth and dimension in the painting. Second, it gives me more control over the final result. I can adjust the colors and values of each layer as I go, which helps me to achieve the exact look I’m going for.
I started the painting with a gray tone background. This helps to create a neutral canvas for the rest of the painting. It also helps to unify the different elements of the painting and create a sense of balance.
I’m still in the early stages of painting this piece, but I’m happy with the progress so far. I’m excited to see how the painting evolves as I continue to work on it.
